Here’s How Fast Realme X2 Pro’s 50W SuperVOOC Charging Will Be

In India, you can snag the realme X2 Pro for Rs. 29,999 ($423) for the 8GB RAM variant with 128GB of storage. Meanwhile, the higher-end variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at Rs. 33,999 ($480). If you want the Master edition colorways, you will have to splurge an additional Rs. 1,000 bringing the price to Rs. 34,999.

By Amritanshu Mukherjee: Realme has been teasing its flagship Realme X2 Pro for the Indian market for a long time and finally, it launched in at an event in New Delhi today. The Realme X2 Pro is the best of what Realme has to offer, flaunting impressive specifications such as a 90Hz smooth display and an industry-leading 50W fast charging system. Starting at Rs 29,999, it is the cheapest phone to be powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset as well as a 90Hz display in India.

--The 50W Super VOOC fast charging system on X2 Pro is currently the fastest battery charging technology you can find in an Indian smartphone. In our experience, the battery charges from 0-100 per cent within 30 minutes, which is faster than even the Warp Charge 30T on the OnePlus 7T Pro. And do note that the 30 minute-full top-up time stands for a big 4000mAh battery.

On my test device, it was not possible to watch Netflix. Although the smartphone supports Security Level L1 and therefore allows you to play high-resolution content from services such as Netflix, the model used during this review is not supported. But you can rest assured because Realme has confirmed to us that the units for sale equipped with the final software version will not have this problem.

The camera performs well but in this field Realme, if it really wants to compete with the toughest rivals, will have to get busy especially with night shots. The Realme X2 Pro is undoubtedly the true flagship killer of 2019. Just like OnePlus was a few years ago, now it is Realme's turn to offer a device that is carefully designed and performs at a very competitive price point. Xiaomi and OnePlus will have to watch their backs because Realme has arrived in Europe with something really interesting here!

That said, one of the headline features of the Realme X2 Pro is the 50W SuperVOOC fast charging, which juices up the phone's 4,000 mAh battery from flat to 100% in 30 minutes as opposed to the 35 minutes advertised by the company.

Another impressive feature of the phone that the company announced today is the 50W SuperVOOC charging. It isn't the second-gen standard that reaches up to 65W and made its way to the Oppo Reno Ace but is still massively faster than the 30W VOOC 4.0 in the Realme X2.

In our opinion, the practical usage experience lies somewhere in the middle too. The X2 Pro turned out to be quite impressive but was let down by its software. We are hoping that the upcoming customized Color OS 7 upgrade will finally eliminate this necessary evil out of the equation and make the X2 Pro a lot more attractive.

Master Edition comes with top RAM/ROM, 12 GB and 256 GB respectively of UFS 3.0 ultra fast standard. There is no expandable memory thus the SIM tray is not hybrid. We hope Realme buys from the same OnePlus supplier. OnePlus RAM sticks are amazing keeping top performance over the years.

Speed is unparalleled. OnePlus was the champion, X2 Pro takes the pole position now. There is going to be a war inside the BBK Group next semester. OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme will try to outsmart each other to provide the snapier smartphone around.

The right side has the power button and the SIM tray. It supports dual SIM but there is no memory card slot. So make a prudent choice when you buy the storage variants with 64GB, 128GB and 256GB on offer. The phone supports dual VoLTE. I was also told the X2 Pro will soon get support WiFi calling (VoWiFi) via a new update. The left side has the volume buttons. The phone features a 44 MIMO antenna to ensure proper data or Wi-Fi signal irrespective of how you are holding the phone while gaming.

Like the standard realme X2 Pro (MY), the Master Edition will have a large 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display, with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 90 Hz refresh rate.

That surprisingly makes it 18% CHEAPER than the standard realme X2 Pro (MY), which will be selling shortly for RM 2,399 / US$574 / 445 / A$846 / S$786.

It comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and along with that the device also comes with support for Dolby ATMOS and Hi-Res Audio technology which is really cool. It has dual speakers and the sound output you get from them is just amazing. Right next to the headphone jack there is a USB Type-C port and the device comes with support for 50W SuperVOOC Fast Charging. This device is currently the fastest charging smartphone in India and it goes from 0 to 100 in just 35-40 minutes. You also get the latest Goodix 3.0 in-display fingerprint scanner that works like a charm and unlocks the device in a second.

Is this the OnePlus revolution happening all over again? In a way that makes sense: OnePlus has driven itself from the budget market towards the affordable flagship, steadily raising its prices. Realme is part of Oppo - which is under the same ownership umbrella as OnePlus and other brands too - so will certainly have some ideas of where and how to conduct its business.

How essential 90Hz actually is, however, is up for debate. You won't always see the benefit, as user interfaces typically have adaptive frame-rate adjustment anyway, but the theory is that certain apps and games will be able to plug into this faster refresh and that'll translate to a smoother visual experience.

If all that power causes the battery to deplete quicker than you'd like then the inclusion of super-fast charging will certainly come in hand. The X2 Pro uses 50W Super VOOC - the same technology that Oppo first pioneered - which could charge the 4,000mAh battery from dead to full in just over 30 minutes. That's crazy-fast - and it's even possible to top-up the phone during a gaming session (just not as fast, of course).

Definitely. The Realme X2 Pro is the best smartphone in India in the sub-Rs 30,000 price segment. It has a well-built body, an excellent and fluid-feeling 90Hz AMOLED screen, fast performance, plenty of software features, quality cameras, stereo speakers, good battery life, and surprisingly fast battery charging.

So far, Realme has established a comfort zone in the sub-Rs. 20,000 segment, but with the Realme X2 Pro, it's stepping into the premium segment, where brands such as OnePlus and Asus have dominated for a while. The Realme X2 Pro looks impressive on paper, featuring things such as vapour cooling, a tactile linear motor for haptic feedback, stereo speakers, a 90Hz display, and extremely fast charging. We've been using the Realme X2 Pro for a few days, and here's what we think about it so far.

In terms of battery life, the X2 Pro has a 4000mAh capacity. One of its biggest selling points is that you get a 50W Super VOOC charger in the box, which Realme claims should be able to fully charge the battery from zero in only 35 minutes. This sounds very impressive, and we'll definitely be putting it to the test soon. The good news is that the Realme X2 Pro also supports more common fast charging standards such as Qualcomm's Quick Charge and USB Type-C Power Delivery (PD) so you'll still be able to quickly top up the battery, even without the bundled charger. 2ff7e9595c
